It's official.

I’ve got three weeks to pack this place up. Anyone free to play with Seamus while I do this?

Alameda! After looking at every crazy fixer-upper on the island, we asked our agent if she handled rentals. She does not, but her mom had a house for rent. More space, less rent, good school district, plus our realtor lives in the house in the back of the lot, and has a daughter Seamus' age.

I know you would, Joy, and he'd have a blast with you and Walter. How're you guys?

We're wonderful--skied 75 days this year...and miss it already! It's been a mild summer so far: i'm just planting herbs, etc, and enjoying the bears and coyotes and birds and squirrels! Our very elderly cat (17 y.o.) has "discovered" the deck and the sun, and she lounges all day long. She's discovered one squirrel who has figured out how to climb up and get in the house (i keep nuts here to throw out to them!) and help himself--which means that old kitty has discovered the "inner-predator" in her!

Alameda is wonderful--as you say, parents with children, unlike SF. I didn't mean to trash SF in my previous post--it's just that it's such a "young adult" money-driven, angry city, not like what it was years ago. And as you have found, few children (unless, of course, you have tons of money, and then you wouldn't want S exposed to them!). When we moved to Tahoe, we could have bought a house with the hoity-toity people, but decided to buy in the area we're at--there are children, old people, young people, a real mix of "real" people! I think you'll find that in Alameda. It will be an adjustment for you: SF has been your home for so long! But you will find that S will have company, and YOU will have company, among women and men raising their children at the same time. And I hope/believe you won't find that "competitive child rearing" attitude that is rife in many rich areas.

I miss you, Sar--give Seamus a big hug and kiss, and Patrick too!
And, as always, keep a big hug and kiss for yourself.
Love
Joy
